2012 Coaches

At the latest committee meeting on Monday 14th November the Montrose 2012 Committee discussed and appointed our coaches for 2012. Here are the details of the appointments:

Seniors: Nathan Rogers has decided to step down as Senior team coach to investigate other coaching options outside of the club, probably at a youth level. He has expressed a desire to remain involved with Montrose, particularly with the Junior club. I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the club and committee to thank Nathan for all his hard work and dedication to a very tough role over the past two years. Without his leadership I do not believe we would have had the success that we did last season, our first in many years for the Senior team.

We had one expression of interest for the Senior coaching role. As he is one of our own,a skillful player and an experienced coach, we had no hesitation in appointing Simon Middleton as our Senior coach for 2012. Congratulations to Simon.

Reserves: As the emcumbent Reserve team coach, Paul Corke automatically receives a second year as coach, if he wants the job. I am pleased to say that Paul is happy to continue in the role and is looking forward to working with Simon to develop our Senior squad.

Thirds: Under the same principle, Matt Mann is the encumbent Third team coach. I am happy to say that he also is continuing in that role.

Mountainmen: As always there is a little confusion about our 'casual' team. However it is our belief that the "dream team" combination of Steve Curtis & Chris Gilson will look after the coaching role next year

Girls: As the encumbent, Stu 'Dog' Kitto has the role if he wants it. In reply to my question, he said: " If I didn't wanna do it, I would've told ya by now!" I guess that means Stu goes again!

Vets: By the same principle, there being no other more suitable or grumpier candidate coming forward, Dougie Nolan goes again as Legends Coach for 2012.

Good luck to all coaches for 2012, and thank you for your dedication to the Club.

Al Symons. For and on behalf of the Montrose 2012 Committee.
