Goalkick comes to Montrose
Anyone arriving at the home of the Monty Burger last Thursday could have presumed one of two things were happening; The Dandenongs were on fire, and everyone had evacuated to the pitch, or last drinks had been called at the bar. The car park was overflowing onto Swansea Road, and the pitch was packed to the goalposts with kids. Everywhere you looked there were kids, parents, brothers, sisters and assorted family members and friends. (Plus one pet , Sharkey the Wonder dog and official Goalkick mascot).
Mr Nicholas has created a monster of the friendly variety. Goalkick is officially alive and kicking, here at Montrose. In excess of 80 kids participated in the first sessions, ably instructed by our soccer educators; James (Co-Ordinator), Al, Nick, Liam, Eddie and Stu (Who had to leave early—rumour has it he was just scared), backed up in the clubhouse by Liz & Eric. All around the ground, groups of kids were chasing, kicking, laughing and generally making sure they took home as much of the Montrose mud as there little bodies would hold. It was definitely something that had to be seen to be believed.
Top Effort, to James & His Merry Men
The success of this program has continued into week two, with the addition of extra coaching staff. Thanks Matt & George, its great to see Montrose players of old bringing down their kids to hopefully continue the tradition there fathers started, by playing for Montrose in coming years.
Anybody able to spare an hour or so, on a Thursday night will be most welcome..
