THE MONTROSITY CUP - 2006
After much talk around the club, it was finally to decided to find the answer to the question, OLD or YOUNG, which is the better team.
And the best way to do this, On the pitch of course.
Al took charge of the Vets, and Ben G led the charge for the Young Guns. Attendance was great, considering the season had officially finished and both teams took to the pitch with plenty of players on hand. Eddy & John Van Dinther were appointed line duties and The Cat, was ready with his whistle to officiate, Ebony primed the BBQ and Eric stood guard over a loaded fridge. All was in readiness. The young guns took first blood with a goal from Jesse, this was equalized before the halftime break by an on form Bowler.
Early in the second half, both teams managed to sneak another goal home, after many opportunities were foiled. A winner were starting to look doubtful, as both teams matched up evenly; the speed and agility of the young guns matched the experience of the veterans. Maybe that proved that age is no barrier, a willingness to use what you've got is the best defense.
As the match faced the finish line, and extra time loomed in sight. The fitter bodies of the Young Guns (or the thought of having to hear the vets, brag all season)saw the youngsters in an attacking frenzy, score another 2 goals to put them clearly in the lead. The older bodies had nothing left to give.
Congratulations to both teams for a great performance, you should all be proud of your efforts and the manner in which you conducted yourselves.
Who will take out next years Cup?
